The challenge

The rc_visard is a stereo sensor that is designed to support robotic applications ranging from bin-picking to navigation. As a a plug-and-play machine vision solution it can be integrated directly, with typically no need for external computers.
The design challenge was to create a visually strong object taking into account very tight technical constraints such as passive cooling that is reflected in prominent colling fins.

The result

The Roboception sensor stands out. Within the field of automation it is a fairly small component but with its radiant red tone its never out of sight. The angular shapes give it a very strong silhouette and build a bridge to the possibilities and necessities of maufacturing. Taking into account these technical constraints when designing the sensor payed off when the first batch of parts arrived with a perfect finish.

Visuals

As a startup Roboception continuosly discusses possible application fields to potential users and integtrators. Clear visuals help to start the conversation. On social media they help generate attention and also explain the technology without words. With deep insights into robotic technology TWID makes it easy for clients to produce this kind of compelling and technologically plausible graphics.

Impact

Oftentimes Roboception sensors are used as quite small components within a larger robotic application. The clear cut design makes the roboception sensors visible leaving a mark also in third party applications. Two major design awards generate attention and give credibility to the functional qualities of the product.
